Yes, I very much agree with your response Donri. I think often we make the misunderstanding that children aren’t capable of having deeper conversations that involve having an open-mind. In this case Ryan believed his students were more open-minded than his adult colleagues and he was right. The students were engaged in listening and providing feedback therefore were displaying open-mindedness through discussion. As you mentioned, based on the atmosphere displayed by the students and their ability to participate in discussion without defensiveness, they all were able to use critical thinking skills and give their opinions and input.
