The standards for educators were developed by the BC Teachers’ Council and the Independent School Teaching Certificate Standards Committee. They were created to hold standards of practice and help guide teachers throughout their practice, education and growth. They were developed to provide a framework to guide the Ministry of Education and fellow decision markers towards appropriate teacher education programs, certifications, and discipline. These are standards that all teachers must agree to follow when working within school districts and when receiving certification.

This website is meant to provide educators with the correct curricular expectations, core competencies, and resources needed to implemented within classrooms and various subjects. For each subject and under every grade are big ideas, curricular competencies, and content that teachers are expected to teach to their students throughout the school year. The website touches upon everything there is to know about what is needed to ensure student’s are successful in their studies and future lives.
